Are You a Acts Chapter 7 Christian?

I was sitting on my deck this Easter Sunday morning drinking my coffee and checking my emails and the news events that happened over night.  In one of my emails I received a picture of the Christian students at Garissa University in Kenya. For those who haven't seen it, you may not want to. It is an image that will stay with you. There is a saying among us old Preachers, "That'll Preach."  If I was still Preaching regularly whatever message I had planned today would have changed as I looked at this picture.  This would have been my Easter message.

As I looked at the horrible picture The Holy Spirit started speaking to my heart.  According to published reports these Christian students were herded into this room.  They were taunted because of their faith.  I can not imagine how difficult their last minutes were.  I know the first instant after it was finished, when they met their Savior, was glorious, but those last minutes on earth would have been horrible.

As I looked at the picture I had to ask myself what is I had been there?  Would I have stood with Jesus?  Would I have been afraid and denied Jesus?  What would you do?  My Prayer, my hope is I would remember this Scripture:

Psalm 27:1King James Version (KJV)
27 The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

It is so easy for us Christians to say we would never deny Jesus.  One thing I have learned in my 56 years is one never knows what they will do until they are in a particular situation.  You know what you think you will do.  You know what you hope you would do.  Peter comes to mind.  Jesus told Peter he would deny Jesus three times, remember?

Luke 22: 31 - 38

31And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: 32But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren. 33And he said unto him, Lord, I am ready to go with thee, both into prison, and to death. 34And he said, I tell thee, Peter, the cock shall not crow this day, before that thou shalt thrice deny that thou knowest me.
35And he said unto them, When I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, lacked ye any thing? And they said, Nothing. 36Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one. 37For I say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished in me, And he was reckoned among the transgressors: for the things concerning me have an end. 38And they said, Lord, behold, here are two swords. And he said unto them, It is enough.
Peter a friend of Jesus.  One who knew Jesus personally. One who walked with Jesus.  One who witnessed first hand Jesus performing miracles. If a Disciple of Christ could deny him three times in one night, anyone is capable.  With the persecution of Christians in our times, we never know when we may be put in this position.  It may or may not be just the threat of death.  You could be in a position like the pizza restaurant owner in Indiana.  How would you have answered that reporter's question?  Would you have stood with Jesus?  Or would you have been to afraid of losing your business?
It is a question we all must ask ourselves.  Will you stand with Jesus or will you deny knowing Him? We are faced with these decisions far more often than we realize. Any time you stop and think before you say what your heart feels about Jesus because you don't want people to be uncomfortable around you, you deny knowing Jesus.  Any time you don't share your love of Jesus because you are afraid it will cost you a friend, or a job, or a better grade in school, you are denying knowing Jesus.
When I was saved and began to actually study, not just read but study the Bible I was drawn to Acts Chapter 7.  Its not that I have a death wish, but I desire to be an Acts Chapter 7 Christian.  One who when anyone meets me or is around me they can see by my actions, not just my words that Jesus Christ is in my heart!  Read Acts Chapter 7.

Acts 7 King James Version (KJV)

Then said the high priest, Are these things so?
And he said, Men, brethren, and fathers, hearken; The God of glory appeared unto our father Abraham, when he was in Mesopotamia, before he dwelt in Charran,
And said unto him, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and come into the land which I shall shew thee.
Then came he out of the land of the Chaldaeans, and dwelt in Charran: and from thence, when his father was dead, he removed him into this land, wherein ye now dwell.
And he gave him none inheritance in it, no, not so much as to set his foot on: yet he promised that he would give it to him for a possession, and to his seed after him, when as yet he had no child.
And God spake on this wise, That his seed should sojourn in a strange land; and that they should bring them into bondage, and entreat them evil four hundred years.
And the nation to whom they shall be in bondage will I judge, said God: and after that shall they come forth, and serve me in this place.
And he gave him the covenant of circumcision: and so Abraham begat Isaac, and circumcised him the eighth day; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat the twelve patriarchs.
And the patriarchs, moved with envy, sold Joseph into Egypt: but God was with him,
10 And delivered him out of all his afflictions, and gave him favour and wisdom in the sight of Pharaoh king of Egypt; and he made him governor over Egypt and all his house.
11 Now there came a dearth over all the land of Egypt and Chanaan, and great affliction: and our fathers found no sustenance.
12 But when Jacob heard that there was corn in Egypt, he sent out our fathers first.
13 And at the second time Joseph was made known to his brethren; and Joseph's kindred was made known unto Pharaoh.
14 Then sent Joseph, and called his father Jacob to him, and all his kindred, threescore and fifteen souls.
15 So Jacob went down into Egypt, and died, he, and our fathers,
16 And were carried over into Sychem, and laid in the sepulchre that Abraham bought for a sum of money of the sons of Emmor the father of Sychem.
17 But when the time of the promise drew nigh, which God had sworn to Abraham, the people grew and multiplied in Egypt,
18 Till another king arose, which knew not Joseph.
19 The same dealt subtilly with our kindred, and evil entreated our fathers, so that they cast out their young children, to the end they might not live.
20 In which time Moses was born, and was exceeding fair, and nourished up in his father's house three months:
21 And when he was cast out, Pharaoh's daughter took him up, and nourished him for her own son.
22 And Moses was learned in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and was mighty in words and in deeds.
23 And when he was full forty years old, it came into his heart to visit his brethren the children of Israel.
24 And seeing one of them suffer wrong, he defended him, and avenged him that was oppressed, and smote the Egyptian:
25 For he supposed his brethren would have understood how that God by his hand would deliver them: but they understood not.
26 And the next day he shewed himself unto them as they strove, and would have set them at one again, saying, Sirs, ye are brethren; why do ye wrong one to another?
27 But he that did his neighbour wrong thrust him away, saying, Who made thee a ruler and a judge over us?
28 Wilt thou kill me, as thou diddest the Egyptian yesterday?
29 Then fled Moses at this saying, and was a stranger in the land of Madian, where he begat two sons.
30 And when forty years were expired, there appeared to him in the wilderness of mount Sina an angel of the Lord in a flame of fire in a bush.
31 When Moses saw it, he wondered at the sight: and as he drew near to behold it, the voice of the Lord came unto him,
32 Saying, I am the God of thy fathers, the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. Then Moses trembled, and durst not behold.
33 Then said the Lord to him, Put off thy shoes from thy feet: for the place where thou standest is holy ground.
34 I have seen, I have seen the affliction of my people which is in Egypt, and I have heard their groaning, and am come down to deliver them. And now come, I will send thee into Egypt.
35 This Moses whom they refused, saying, Who made thee a ruler and a judge? the same did God send to be a ruler and a deliverer by the hand of the angel which appeared to him in the bush.
36 He brought them out, after that he had shewed wonders and signs in the land of Egypt, and in the Red sea, and in the wilderness forty years.
37 This is that Moses, which said unto the children of Israel, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear.
38 This is he, that was in the church in the wilderness with the angel which spake to him in the mount Sina, and with our fathers: who received the lively oracles to give unto us:
39 To whom our fathers would not obey, but thrust him from them, and in their hearts turned back again into Egypt,
40 Saying unto Aaron, Make us gods to go before us: for as for this Moses, which brought us out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him.
41 And they made a calf in those days, and offered sacrifice unto the idol, and rejoiced in the works of their own hands.
42 Then God turned, and gave them up to worship the host of heaven; as it is written in the book of the prophets, O ye house of Israel, have ye offered to me slain beasts and sacrifices by the space of forty years in the wilderness?
43 Yea, ye took up the tabernacle of Moloch, and the star of your god Remphan, figures which ye made to worship them: and I will carry you away beyond Babylon.
44 Our fathers had the tabernacle of witness in the wilderness, as he had appointed, speaking unto Moses, that he should make it according to the fashion that he had seen.
45 Which also our fathers that came after brought in with Jesus into the possession of the Gentiles, whom God drave out before the face of our fathers, unto the days of David;
46 Who found favour before God, and desired to find a tabernacle for the God of Jacob.
47 But Solomon built him an house.
48 Howbeit the most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands; as saith the prophet,
49 Heaven is my throne, and earth is my footstool: what house will ye build me? saith the Lord: or what is the place of my rest?
50 Hath not my hand made all these things?
51 Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye.
52 Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? and they have slain them which shewed before of the coming of the Just One; of whom ye have been now the betrayers and murderers:
53 Who have received the law by the disposition of angels, and have not kept it.
54 When they heard these things, they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed on him with their teeth.
55 But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God,
56 And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God.
57 Then they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and ran upon him with one accord,
58 And cast him out of the city, and stoned him: and the witnesses laid down their clothes at a young man's feet, whose name was Saul.
59 And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.
60 And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.

My question to you, are you an Acts Chapter 7 Christian?  Will you do as Stephen and stand with Jesus no matter the earthly cost?  Is your Faith that strong?  Does Jesus really have your heart?  If not isn't now the time to turn your heart and your life over to Him?

I truly believe we are living in the final days my friends.  Don't wait to late.

An Open Letter To The U.S. House And Senate

To all the Members of The United States Senate and The United States House of Representatives, this is a letter someone has needed to write for a long time.  I doubt many of you will actually read it because most of you have forgot that you are supposed to serve we the people, not the other way around.

I am writing to you not as a former Police Chief.  Not as a former Business Manager who had to live with budgets and make profits to maintain jobs for our employees. Not as a Preacher.  Not as a Republican, Democrat, or Independent.  I am writing to you as an American Citizen.  As a Christian.

Its time to put politics aside.  Its time to reign in President Obama and the extreme left side of The Democratic Party.  Republicans you are not blameless either.  Its time for both Party's to put their big boy and big girl pants on and put this Country back on the path to greatness again.

Every one knows, whether they will admit it or not, The President's Executive Order on Immigration goes against The Constitution and is unlawful. Every one knows, again whether they will admit it or not, our Country can't afford it.  Republicans, every one also knows Americans are a generous people.  We aren't going to split families up, send Mother's and Father's back to their home countries and leave their American born children here.  Get real people.  Roll back the President's unlawful power grab and fix the Immigration System, its not that difficult.  Secure the borders.  Get rid of the bad people that are here, and give a reasonable pathway to citizenship.

America has long been a glimmer of hope for the world.  Many men and women have sacrificed greatly through  the years to maintain our freedom.  We have now become the laughing stock of the world.  No country respects us anymore.  Many dictate to us.  Just like The Palestinians and Hamas demanding to be involved in the investigation in the Chapel Hill shooting!  Really?

You people control the purse strings.  No money can be spent without your approval.  Democrats you all know the President is making your party and the country look bad.  Curtail his spending for his golf outings and vacations.  If he doesn't have the presence of mind to realize how bad it looks for him to be yucking it up on the Golf Course immediately following National or World tragedies cut off the funding!  How can any President, Republican or Democrat, Black, White, or Latino, Male or Female, think its ok to go to Vegas immediately after Benghazi?  To head to the Golf Course immediately after ISIS beheads an American Citizen?

Democrats, Republicans, and Independents have all been lied to by this President about The Affordable Care Act.  Whether Democrats or Liberals will admit it you know in your heart its true.  This was no mistake from The President enough proof has come out now where even the most ardent supporter should know he lied over and over.  Democrats admit it to yourself and your constituents before you bankrupt this country and ruin the best healthcare system the world has ever known.  Republicans you know you can't get the votes to over turn a Presidential Veto to repeal The Affordable Care Act.  All you do by holding these silly votes to over turn it is galvanize the left.  Instead of wasting that time work with your Democratic counter parts to over turn the worst parts of it.  Democrats grow up and meet them halfway.

National Security.  Stop messing with it.  Put the money back in the Military.  We are in a very dangerous time.  Very dangerous.  This is not the time for these draconian cuts on the finest Military in the world.  Straighten out the VA, our Veterans earned it.

Iran, my goodness how can you all let this President allow them to get the Bomb?  Just because he listens to Valerie Jarrett do you all have to let him do this?  Have any of you bothered to study about The Mahdi or the 12th Imam?  I doubt it.  The Mullahs in Iran believe it is their duty to bring about The Mahdi.  They believe by attacking Israel and  "The Great Satan", The U.S.A. with an Atomic Bomb they can bring about The Mahdi. They believe that is their duty to Allah.  They look at it as their ticket to Heaven.  Knowing that, do you really think those "Religious Fanatics" in Iran won't use the bomb if they get it?  Yet this Administration and the far left of The Democratic Party are going to snub The Prime Minister of Israel when he addresses Congress?  The one person who has even more to lose than the U.S.  President Obama can have David Cameron call members of Congress to lobby them to hold off on sanctions on Iran, but its against protocol for the Republicans to Bibi here to address Congress?  Give me a break!  Democrats you know that's not right, stand up!  Or is The Democratic Party really the Party that Boo's God and Israel?

ISIS.  ISIS is not our only enemy.  Our enemy is Radical or Devout Islam.  Whether its called Hamas, Hezbollah, Boko Haram, Al Nusra, Al Qaeda, Chorosan, Al Shabbab etc..., makes no difference. Evil is evil.  All of the Islamic Terror groups want to destroy Israel, The U.S., and any country that doesn't accept Islamic rule.  Until we realize who our enemy is, and name it how can we ever defeat it?  You Ladies and Gentleman are smart.  You didn't get where you are by not being intelligent.  Act like it.  Family, Faith, and Country come before Party.  Not the other way around!

Straighten out the budget!  Our Children and Grandchildren deserve it.  We owe to our ancestors.  It truly isn't rocket science.  It doesn't even have to be painful.  We wouldn't even have to make that many cuts, in fact we could even spend more on our infrastructure.  Its really quite simple taking some of the best ideas from both Parties.  Open up Federal Lands for oil production.  Relax the EPA rules where more refineries can be built.  To make the environmentalists happy use some of the revenue from the increased fees and royalties from the leases to help Service Stations add Natural Gas pumps.  Help people who want to convert their vehicles to Natural Gas if they want.  Tax credits to Corporations who are sitting on billions of dollars off shore if they bring that money back into The States to hire people and come up with new technologies. Use some of the additional revenue to start rebuilding our Schools, Roads, and Bridges.  Obama wants to provide a Junior College education to any citizen who wants it.  We all know as deep in debt as our country is we can't afford it.  If you all would come together and do the above the new jobs would increase revenue and perhaps we could afford it.  I am a social and fiscal Conservative, but if we can get our country back to fiscal sanity I actually believe  Junior College, or two years of Technical School for every American would be a great idea for the future of our children and our country.

Benghazi and The I.R.S.  Come on people.  No matter what party you are affiliated with you have to know something is bad wrong here.  The American people are generally forgiving when told the truth.  Every couple of weeks or so something new comes out about Benghazi or the I.R.S.  Elijah Cummings and a few other Democrats are doing everything in their power to keep the truth from coming out.  Why?  It will eventually come out.  Someone will come forward like Johnathon Gruber did on healthcare.  It always happens, and the cover up is always worse than the crime.  Seems to me if I was a Democrat I would much prefer the truth come out now instead of during the campaign season of 2016.  I have heard several Democrats complain that Barack Obama is destroying the Democratic Party.  Maybe he is I don't know.  I do know until Jimmy Carter came along I and my parents and grandparents were staunch Democrats.  After Jimmy, Republicans.  All of us. I never thought I would say this, but I think President Obama will end up doing more harm to the Democratic Party long term than Carter did.  So stop trying to cover it up, get the truth out and let the chips fall where they may.  Its the right thing to do!

I told myself as I was led to write this open letter to you all I would leave out Scriptures.  I would only use the words God put on my heart to wake you up.  It came to me as I was writing what better way to get a Public Servants attention than with the following:

2 Chronicles 7:14New International Version (NIV)
14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

Our land needs desperately to be healed!  More so now than any time I can remember.  Its up to you all, the men and women we elected to start the process.  Stop the petty party bickering.  Put your Faith, Family and Country ahead of your Party.

God Bless you all, I Pray daily you all wake before we lose this great country God so richly Blessed us with!

Obama And The Crusades

" And lest we get on our high horse and think this is unique to some other place, remember that during the Crusades and the Inquisition, people committed terrible deeds in the name of Christ. In our home country, slavery and Jim Crow all too often was justified in the name of Christ"

Barack H. Obama, National Prayer Breakfast 2015

Mr. President I think you need a history lesson on The Crusades.

Crusades, military expeditions, beginning in the late 11th century, that were organized by Western Christians in response to centuries of Muslim wars of expansion. Their objectives were to check the spread of Islam, to retake control of the Holy Land, to conquer pagan areas, and to recapture formerly Christian territories; they were seen by many of their participants as a means of redemption and expiation for sins.

Did you see that Mr. Obama?  They were organized in response to centuries of Muslim Wars of expansion.  In other words it was due to Muslims doing as Muhammad commanded and spreading Islam by the sword.  The very same thing ISIS, Al Qaeda, Boko Haram, Hamas, Hezbollah, Al Shabab, etc... are doing now!

Quran (5:33) - "The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His messenger and strive to make mischief in the land is only this, that they should be murdered or crucified or their hands and their feet should be cut off on opposite sides or they should be imprisoned; this shall be as a disgrace for them in this world, and in the hereafter they shall have a grievous chastisement"

Quran (8:12) - "I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Therefore strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them"

I guess we can see where ISIS gets the idea its the right thing to do when they behead or crucify. Iran, ISIS, Al Qaeda, etc... want Israel and all the Jews destroyed.  Where could they get that from?

Bukhari (52:177) - Allah's Apostle said, "The Hour will not be established until you fight with the Jews, and the stone behind which a Jew will be hiding will say. "O Muslim! There is a Jew hiding behind me, so kill him."

Now we see where the hatred of the Jews comes from.  Still want to accuse Christians of getting on their high horse Mr. President?

Or how about the killing of innocent women and children?

Bukhari (52:256) - The Prophet... was asked whether it was permissible to attack the pagan warriors at night with the probability of exposing their women and children to danger. The Prophet replied, "They (i.e. women and children) are from them (i.e. pagans)."  In this command, Muhammad establishes that it is permissible to kill non-combatants in the process of killing a perceived enemy.  This provides justification for the many Islamic terror bombings.

Yes Sir Muhammad gave the ok for the killing of innocent women and children too.  I guess that's why ISIS and the others think its the right thing to do.

This violent extremism you and John Kerry talk about all the time, sound anything like this?

Bukhari (52:220) - Allah's Apostle said... 'I have been made victorious with terror'

The President comparing The Crusades to ISIS will come back to haunt The West for many years.  It is and always has been a talking point for The Muslim Brotherhood and all their groups.  ISIS, Al Qaeda, Boko Haram, Iran, Hezbollah, Hamas, all use The Crusades as a rallying cry.  For The President to say that anytime, but especially at The National Day of Prayer was a grave mistake.  It will be used in sound bites all over The Muslim world to recruit Terrorists.

I wonder how much of this came from the meeting he had at The Whitehouse with Muslim activists within a day or two of giving that speech?  We know some of the ones who attended have been linked to The Muslim Brotherhood, perhaps they gave him his talking points.

I debate Muslims often when they are on the internet trying to convince young or liberal Christians we Worship the same God and that our Holy Bible has been corrupted.  That Jesus didn't really die on The Cross etc... Mr. Obama's comments just made that much more difficult.  Already I have been told over and over about Obama's comments on the Crusades by angry Muslims.  Of course like The President they conveniently leave out the fact that The Crusades were a direct result of 400 years of Muslim aggression.

The entire 1,400 year history of Islam has been one of spreading Islam by the sword.  Mr. President try as you may you cannot rewrite History!

Barack Obama's Comments On His Christian Beliefs

I wrote an article about Barack Obama and his words on Islam.  While researching that I saw even more disturbing comments about his view on Christianity.

Barack Obama's Comments On His Christian Beliefs

1. “Whatever we once were, we are no longer a Christian nation”

The large majority of Americans -- 77% of the adult population -- identify with a Christian religion, including 52% who are Protestants or some other non-Catholic Christian religion, 23% who are Catholic, and 2% who affiliate with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Another 18% of Americans do not have an explicit religious identity and 5% identify with a non-Christian religion.
Religious Preference in the United States, 2011 vs. 2012

The Scriptures say:

Isaiah 1:4New International Version (NIV)
Woe to the sinful nation,
a people whose guilt is great,
a brood of evildoers,
    children given to corruption!
They have forsaken the Lord;
they have spurned the Holy One of Israel
and turned their backs on Him.
2. “We do not consider ourselves a Christian nation.”
Psalm 9:17New International Version (NIV)
17 The wicked go down to the realm of the dead,
all the nations that forget God.
3. “Which passages of scripture should guide our public policy?  Should we go with Leviticus, which suggests slavery is OK and that eating shellfish is an abomination?  Or we could go with Deuteronomy, which suggests stoning your child if he strays from the faith?”

The teachings of Jesus, the Council of Jerusalem, and other New Testament teachings (John 1:16-17, Acts 13:39, Romans 2:25-29, 8:1-4, 1 Corinthians 9:19-21, Galatians 2:15-16, Ephesians 2:15) make it clear that Christians are not required to follow the Old Testament rules about crimes and punishments, warfare, slavery, diet, circumcision, animal sacrifices, feast days, Sabbath observance, ritual cleanness, etc.

Christians still look to the Old Testament scripture for moral and spiritual guidance (2 Timothy 3:16-17). But when there seems to be a conflict between Old Testament laws and New Testament principles, we must follow the New Testament because it represents the most recent and most perfect revelation from God (Hebrews 8:13, 2 Corinthians 3:1-18, Galatians 2:15-20).

However, freedom from the Old Testament Law is not a license for Christians to relax their moral standards. The moral and ethical teachings of Jesus and His apostles call for even greater self-discipline than those of the Old Testament (Matthew 5:21-22, 27-28, 31-32, 33-34, 38-42, 43-48, 7:1-5, 15:18-19, 25:37-40, Mark 7:21-23, 12:28-31, Luke 12:15, 1 Corinthians 13:1-13, Galatians 5:19-21, James 1:27, 2:15-16, 1 John 3:17-19).

4. “Even those who claim the Bible’s inerrancy make distinctions between Scriptural edicts, sensing that some passages – the Ten Commandments, say, or a belief in Christ’s divinity – are central to Christian faith, while others are more culturally specific and may be modified to accommodate modern life.”

See the answer to 3

5. “The American people intuitively understand this, which is why the majority of Catholics practice birth control and some of those opposed to gay marriage nevertheless are opposed to a Constitutional amendment to ban it. Religious leadership need not accept such wisdom in counseling their flocks, but they should recognize this wisdom in their politics.”

"Religious leadership need not accept such wisdom in counseling their flocks, but they should recognize this wisdom in their politics".  WHAT?  Barack H. Obama does not tell me what to Preach.  The Holy Spirit and The Holy Scriptures do.  Many of BHO's policies are totally inconsistent with Biblical teachings.  What he is saying is its ok for me to Preach the Bible in the Church but separate my Religious beliefs, the core of who I am so I can agree with him politically. Has some one made him The Messiah? I think not.

6. From Obama’s book, The Audacity of Hope: “I am not willing to have the state deny American citizens a civil union that confers equivalent rights on such basic matters as hospital visitation or health insurance coverage simply because the people they love are of the same sex—nor am I willing to accept a reading of the Bible that considers an obscure line in Romans to be more defining of Christianity than the Sermon on the Mount.”

I hate to tell Barry, but there is no "obscure line" in the Holy Bible.  They are all important.  That "obscure line in Romans" is not the only place in The Holy Scriptures that discuss Homosexuality.

Here is Barry's "obscure line":

Romans 1:18-32New International Version (NIV)

God’s Wrath Against Sinful Humanity

18 The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19 since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.
21 For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles.
24 Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 25 They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.
26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.
28 Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. 29 They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30 slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31 they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy. 32 Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.

That's a little more than an "obscure line" Barry.  In addition there is this:

Mark 7:20-23New International Version (NIV)
20 He went on: “What comes out of a person is what defiles them. 21 For it is from within, out of a person’s heart, that evil thoughts come—sexual immorality, theft, murder, 22 adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. 23 All these evils come from inside and defile a person.”

1 Corinthians 6:9-10New International Version (NIV)
Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men[a] 10 nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.

1 Timothy 1:8-11New International Version (NIV)
We know that the law is good if one uses it properly. We also know that the law is made not for the righteous but for lawbreakers and rebels, the ungodly and sinful, the unholy and irreligious, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers, 10 for the sexually immoral, for those practicing homosexuality, for slave traders and liars and perjurers—and for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine 11 that conforms to the gospel concerning the glory of the blessed God, which he entrusted to me.

Genesis 19:1-13New International Version (NIV)

Sodom and Gomorrah Destroyed

19 The two angels arrived at Sodom in the evening, and Lot was sitting in the gateway of the city. When he saw them, he got up to meet them and bowed down with his face to the ground. “My lords,” he said, “please turn aside to your servant’s house. You can wash your feet and spend the night and then go on your way early in the morning.”
“No,” they answered, “we will spend the night in the square.”
But he insisted so strongly that they did go with him and entered his house. He prepared a meal for them, baking bread without yeast, and they ate. Before they had gone to bed, all the men from every part of the city of Sodom—both young and old—surrounded the house. They called to Lot, “Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us so that we can have sex with them.”
Lot went outside to meet them and shut the door behind him and said, “No, my friends. Don’t do this wicked thing. Look, I have two daughters who have never slept with a man. Let me bring them out to you, and you can do what you like with them. But don’t do anything to these men, for they have come under the protection of my roof.”
“Get out of our way,” they replied. “This fellow came here as a foreigner, and now he wants to play the judge! We’ll treat you worse than them.” They kept bringing pressure on Lot and moved forward to break down the door.
10 But the men inside reached out and pulled Lot back into the house and shut the door. 11 Then they struck the men who were at the door of the house, young and old, with blindness so that they could not find the door.
12 The two men said to Lot, “Do you have anyone else here—sons-in-law, sons or daughters, or anyone else in the city who belongs to you? Get them out of here, 13 because we are going to destroy this place. The outcry to the Lord against its people is so great that he has sent us to destroy it.”

Leviticus 18:21-22New International Version (NIV)
21 “‘Do not give any of your children to be sacrificed to Molek, for you must not profane the name of your God. I am the Lord.
22 “‘Do not have sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman; that is detestable.

Leviticus 20:13New International Version (NIV)
13 “‘If a man has sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They are to be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.

Judges 19:20-23New International Version (NIV)
20 “You are welcome at my house,” the old man said. “Let me supply whatever you need. Only don’t spend the night in the square.” 21 So he took him into his house and fed his donkeys. After they had washed their feet, they had something to eat and drink.
22 While they were enjoying themselves, some of the wicked men of the city surrounded the house. Pounding on the door, they shouted to the old man who owned the house, “Bring out the man who came to your house so we can have sex with him.
23 The owner of the house went outside and said to them, “No, my friends, don’t be so vile. Since this man is my guest, don’t do this outrageous thing.

So as any one can see Barry it is far more than "one obscure line in Romans."

 7. Obama’s response when asked what his definition of sin is: “Being out of alignment with my values.”

This really doesn't even deserve a response.  This is President Obama acting as if he knows more than Jesus Christ.  Barry The Bible is not like an all you can eat Buffet, you can't just take what you want and leave the rest.

1 John 5:17
All wrongdoing is sin, and there is sin that does not lead to death.
Matthew 12:31
And so I tell you, every kind of sin and slander can be forgiven, but blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven.
Mark 1:4
And so John the Baptist appeared in the wilderness, preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins.
Mark 8:38
If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of them when he comes in his Father’s glory with the holy angels.”
1 John 3:8
The one who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work.
8. “If all it took was someone proclaiming I believe Jesus Christ and that he died for my sins, and that was all there was to it, people wouldn’t have to keep coming to church, would they.”
Again, he is wrong and tries to over simplify things.  First of all no where does it say if you are proclaim Jesus Christ is Lord and He died for my sins, you do or do not have to go to Church.  What The Bible teaches us is if you are truly Saved, if you've truly been washed in the Blood of Jesus you will want to be away from sin and sinful temptations.  You will want to be around other Born Again Christians.  You will want to Serve God.  You will want to go Worship God with other Believers.
As James said:
James 2:14-26New International Version (NIV)

Faith and Deeds

14 What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? 15 Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. 16 If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? 17 In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.
18 But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.”
Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds. 19 You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder.
20 You foolish person, do you want evidence that faith without deeds is useless[a]? 21 Was not our father Abraham considered righteous for what he did when he offered his son Isaac on the altar? 22 You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did. 23 And the scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness,”[b] and he was called God’s friend. 24 You see that a person is considered righteous by what they do and not by faith alone.
25 In the same way, was not even Rahab the prostitute considered righteous for what she did when she gave lodging to the spies and sent them off in a different direction? 26 As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.
9. “This is something that I’m sure I’d have serious debates with my fellow Christians about. I think that the difficult thing about any religion, including Christianity, is that at some level there is a call to evangelize and prostelytize. There’s the belief, certainly in some quarters, that people haven’t embraced Jesus Christ as their personal savior that they’re going to hell.”

This one is almost to easy.  The hardest part is picking out which Scripture out of the multitude which refute Barry's comment.

John 14:1-21New International Version (NIV)

Jesus Comforts His Disciples

14 “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God[a]; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.”

Jesus the Way to the Father

Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?”
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really know me, you will know[b] my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”
Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.”
Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10 Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you I do not speak on my own authority. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work. 11 Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the works themselves. 12 Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. 13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.

Jesus Promises the Holy Spirit

15 “If you love me, keep my commands. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be[c] in you. 18 I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. 19 Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. 20 On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. 21 Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.”

10. “I find it hard to believe that my God would consign four-fifths of the world to hell.  I can’t imagine that my God would allow some little Hindu kid in India who never interacts with the Christian faith to somehow burn for all eternity.  That’s just not part of my religious makeup.”

9-12 of President Obams's comments can de answered by many of the same Scriptures.  I'll try to only use a few both from The Old and New Testament:

Leviticus 5:17New International Version (NIV)
17 “If anyone sins and does what is forbidden in any of the Lord’s commands, even though they do not know it, they are guilty and will be held responsible.

11. “I don’t presume to have knowledge of what happens after I die. But I feel very strongly that whether the reward is in the here and now or in the hereafter, the aligning myself to my faith and my values is a good thing.”

Matthew 7:13-20New International Version (NIV)

The Narrow and Wide Gates

13 “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.

True and False Prophets

15 “Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. 16 By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? 17 Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.

12. “I’ve said this before, and I know this raises questions in the minds of some evangelicals. I do not believe that my mother, who never formally embraced Christianity as far as I know … I do not believe she went to hell.”

Matthew 7:21-23New International Version (NIV)

True and False Disciples

21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ 23 Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’

13. “Those opposed to abortion cannot simply invoke God’s will–they have to explain why abortion violates some principle that is accessible to people of all faiths.”

There are plenty of verses on can use.  I believe this is the best:

Jeremiah 1:5New International Version (NIV)
Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,
    before you were born I set you apart;
I appointed you as a prophet to the nations

14. On his support for civil unions for gay couples: “If people find that controversial then I would just refer them to the Sermon on the Mount.”

15. “You got into these small towns in Pennsylvania and, like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing’s replaced them. And they fell through the Clinton Administration, and the Bush Administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are gonna regenerate and they have not. And it’s not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.”

Where to begin... I do cling to my Bible.  I do cling to my Faith in Jesus Christ.  I do cling to my 2nd Amendment Rights.  You will not deprive me of any of those.  I cling to the promises of God, not some politicians who would rather lie than tell the Truth.  I cling to the Faith I have that when Americans start putting God first again, God will Bless this country again and the economy will come back.

2 Chronicles 7:14New International Version (NIV)
14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

16. “In our household, the Bible, the Koran and the Bhagavad Gita sat on the shelf alongside books of Greek and Norse and African mythology”

1 John 4 New International Version (NIV)

On Denying the Incarnation

Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.

17. “On Easter or Christmas Day, my mother might drag me to church, just as she dragged me to the Buddhist temple, the Chinese New Year celebration, the Shinto shrine, and ancient Hawaiian burial sites.”

18. “We have Jews, Muslims, Hindus, atheists, agnostics, Buddhists, and their own path to grace is one that we have to revere and respect as much as our own

1 John 2:18-27New International Version (NIV)

Warnings Against Denying the Son

18 Dear children, this is the last hour; and as you have heard that the antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come. This is how we know it is the last hour. 19 They went out from us, but they did not really belong to us. For if they had belonged to us, they would have remained with us; but their going showed that none of them belonged to us.
20 But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and all of you know the truth.[a] 21 I do not write to you because you do not know the truth, but because you do know it and because no lie comes from the truth. 22 Who is the liar? It is whoever denies that Jesus is the Christ. Such a person is the antichrist—denying the Father and the Son. 23 No one who denies the Son has the Father; whoever acknowledges the Son has the Father also.
24 As for you, see that what you have heard from the beginning remains in you. If it does, you also will remain in the Son and in the Father. 25 And this is what he promised us—eternal life.
26 I am writing these things to you about those who are trying to lead you astray. 27 As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit—just as it has taught you, remain in him.

19. “All of us have a responsibility to work for the day when the mothers of Israelis and Palestinians can see their children grow up without fear; when the Holy Land of the three great faiths is the place of peace that God intended it to be; when Jerusalem is a secure and lasting home for Jews and Christians and Muslims, and a place for all of the children of Abraham to mingle peacefully together as in the story of Isra— (applause) — as in the story of Isra, when Moses, Jesus, and Mohammed, peace be upon them, joined in prayer.  (Applause.)”

Sounds great doesn't it?  Until you look at The Scriptures and find out Jesus and Muhammad never Prayed together. They couldn't, Muhammad didn't Pray to the only true God.  Muhammad was nothing more than a false Prophet we have been warned of.

1 John 5 New International Version (NIV)

Faith in the Incarnate Son of God

Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the father loves his child as well. This is how we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying out his commands. In fact, this is love for God: to keep his commands. And his commands are not burdensome, for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.

20. “I believe that there are many paths to the same place, and that is a belief that there is a higher power, a belief that we are connected as a people

This is the one who came by water and blood—Jesus Christ. He did not come by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth. For there are three that testify: the[a] Spirit, the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement. We accept human testimony, but God’s testimony is greater because it is the testimony of God, which he has given about his Son. 10 Whoever believes in the Son of God accepts this testimony. Whoever does not believe God has made him out to be a liar, because they have not believed the testimony God has given about his Son. 11 And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.
